Refund Policy

Important Notice: GEORGE ALMALIKY INSURANCE AGENCY INC acts as a licensed independent insurance agent and broker. We facilitate the placement of insurance policies with third-party carriers. Premium payments made to insurance carriers are governed by the individual carrier's refund and cancellation policies. This Refund Policy applies to service fees charged directly by our agency, where applicable.

1. Service Fee Policies

In certain circumstances, GEORGE ALMALIKY INSURANCE AGENCY INC may charge administrative or consulting service fees separate from insurance premiums. These fees, when applicable, will be disclosed to you in writing prior to any service being rendered. You will have the opportunity to review and accept or decline any service fee before it is charged.

Service fees may include but are not limited to:

  • Policy placement and processing fees.
  • Insurance consulting and advisory fees.
  • Document preparation and filing fees.
  • Policy review and analysis fees for complex commercial accounts.

2. Administrative Processing Fees

Administrative processing fees charged by our agency to cover the cost of processing your application, preparing documentation, or managing policy changes are generally non-refundable once the associated work has been initiated. These fees compensate our agency for the time and resources expended regardless of whether a policy is ultimately issued or accepted by you.

3. Non-Refundable Completed Services

The following services, once completed, are non-refundable:

  • Insurance consultations and needs assessments that have been conducted.
  • Policy research and carrier comparison work that has been completed.
  • Document preparation and submission services that have been fulfilled.
  • Any service for which the work product has been delivered to you.

If you have a concern about the quality or completeness of a completed service, please contact us at president@georgealmalikyinc.com within 10 business days of service delivery to discuss your concern.

4. Duplicate Payment Handling

If you believe you have been charged twice for the same service, please contact our office immediately at 313-853-5454 or president@georgealmalikyinc.com. We will investigate the matter promptly. Verified duplicate charges will be refunded in full within 5–10 business days of confirmation, depending on your payment provider and banking institution.

5. Cancellation Request Procedures

To request cancellation of a service or policy facilitated through our agency, please follow these steps:

  1. Contact our office by phone at 313-853-5454 or by email at president@georgealmalikyinc.com.
  2. Provide your full name, policy number (if applicable), and the specific service or policy you wish to cancel.
  3. Indicate your requested cancellation date.
  4. Our team will confirm receipt of your cancellation request in writing within 2 business days.
  5. For insurance policy cancellations, we will submit the cancellation request to the carrier on your behalf and advise you of any applicable short-rate fees or premium adjustments.

6. Refund Eligibility Conditions

A refund of agency service fees may be considered under the following conditions:

  • The service was not initiated or completed due to circumstances within our control.
  • A duplicate payment was confirmed.
  • The service was materially different from what was described at the time of engagement.
  • A mutual written agreement to refund was reached between our agency and the client.

Refund requests must be submitted in writing within 30 days of the original service date or payment date. Requests submitted after 30 days will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis at our discretion.

7. Insurance Carrier-Related Charges

Premium payments made directly to insurance carriers are subject to the individual carrier's cancellation and refund policies, not our agency's policy. When a policy is cancelled:

  • Pro-Rata Cancellation: The carrier refunds the unused portion of the premium calculated on a daily basis. This is the most common method for company-initiated cancellations.
  • Short-Rate Cancellation: If you cancel a policy before its expiration, the carrier may apply a short-rate penalty, resulting in a smaller refund than the pro-rata amount. This is common for policyholder-initiated cancellations.
  • Non-Refundable Minimum Premium: Some carriers impose a minimum earned premium that is non-refundable regardless of when the policy is cancelled.

We will advise you of the applicable cancellation method for your specific policy before you submit a cancellation request.

8. Dispute Handling Procedures

If you believe a charge from our agency was in error or you are dissatisfied with a refund decision, you may dispute it through the following process:

  1. Submit your dispute in writing to president@georgealmalikyinc.com within 30 days of the charge or refund decision.
  2. Include your full name, contact information, the amount in dispute, and a description of the issue.
  3. We will acknowledge your dispute within 3 business days and complete our review within 10 business days.
  4. We will communicate our final determination in writing. If a refund is approved, it will be processed within 5–10 business days.

9. Billing Questions

For questions about charges appearing on your statement related to our agency's services, please contact us before initiating a chargeback with your financial institution. Many billing questions can be resolved quickly with a direct conversation. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST.

10. Partial Refunds

In cases where a service was partially completed or partially delivered, we may, at our discretion, issue a partial refund proportional to the portion of the service not rendered. Partial refund determinations will be communicated in writing and will reflect a fair assessment of the work completed versus the work outstanding at the time of cancellation.

11. Chargeback Policy

We strongly encourage you to contact us directly before initiating a chargeback with your bank or credit card company. Chargebacks initiated without first contacting our agency to resolve the issue may result in the suspension of services and may be referred to a collections agency if the chargeback is determined to be invalid. We reserve the right to provide documentation to your financial institution demonstrating that services were rendered as agreed.

12. Refund Processing Timeline

Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method where possible. Processing times are as follows:

  • Credit/Debit Card Refunds: 5–10 business days from approval, depending on your card issuer.
  • Check Refunds: 10–15 business days from approval for check issuance and delivery.
  • Electronic Transfer Refunds: 3–7 business days from approval.

Please note that while we process refunds promptly, the time it takes for funds to appear in your account depends on your financial institution and is outside our control.

13. Policy Cancellation Handling

When you request cancellation of an insurance policy through our agency, we will:

  • Submit the cancellation request to the carrier within 1–2 business days of your confirmed request.
  • Confirm the cancellation effective date with you in writing.
  • Advise you of any return premium amount due from the carrier.
  • Inform you of any potential coverage gaps that may result from the cancellation.

Return premiums from carriers are issued directly by the carrier to the policyholder and are governed by the carrier's own refund timeline, typically 2–6 weeks from the cancellation effective date.
